1. Submitting to directories
For that you can use a website like http://www.articletrader.com/directories/

Crosslinking with other sites can help bring in traffic especially when you manage more than one site.

3. Linkbuilding
First make a list of top 10 keywords for your website and search for each keyword in Google and look for sites that offer a directory or link exchange page. You can also use programs like Seo Elite , Link Assistant to help you find sites.

4. Newsletters
For some sites I use a newsletter to my customers. But it has to be close to the site where they bought something.

5. Articles
Write and submit your articles to article directories such as isnare .

6. Forums and Blogs
Posting in forums and using a sig. Also, posting in blog comments can bring in traffic.


7. SEO
should be on top for the list for everyone since most of the free traffic is from organic search. simple things like h1 title tag using a oswd.org template and choosing a good keyword to build around can work. You can also use programs like Seo Elite , Link Assistant to help you with seo.

8. RSS
does it work? Having a RSS feed is important on your site. This will allow readers to get site updates and you can use a free program like RSS Announcer to submit your RSS feeds to RSS directories.


9. Press releases
Press Releases work if you have a business site where you are selling products, services etc. If you just have a blog or article based site, stay away from Press releases.

10. Social Sites - submit your site to social sites like digg , myspace, facebook, slashdot, delicious etc
