Inexpensive Quality Website Hosting PDF Print E-mail
Thursday, 31 July 2008

Looking for inexpensive quality website hosting is one of the most important aspects of any new internet venture. Website hosting is the service that makes your website available to be viewed by others on the Internet. It can range from $3-$10 per month for very basic web hosting package, and is where web hosting companies provide "disk space" and “bandwidth” to customers wanting to place their web sites ("html" files, pictures, etc) online.

These days web hosting is getting cheaper and cheaper. I personally remember when it used to cost $10 per month for only 500 MB of space. It is a lucrative business, and the large number of companies in the market has meant competitive prices for consumers. Today the competition has driven the prices of website hosting so low that the companies are offering unlimited space and bandwidth for their basic packages. Some companies are offering unlimited space and unlimited bandwidth for only $4.00 per month when you sign up for 1 or 2 years. We are also seeing price drops in domain registrations especially for .info domains. If you are only looking for domain names, look into Godaddy because they have tons of coupons that allow domain registration for $6.95 and in some cases for only $1.99.

Our current favorites for inexpensive website hosting are Webhostingpad , Inmotion and Hostgator . Currently, Inmotion offers the cheapest package at $3.00 per month. All three companies utilize cpanel for site control panel and provide excellent features at a low cost. cPanel is one of the most advanced site control panels and offers tons of features for webmasters.

We recommend signing with Webhostingpad because of the amount of features you get for the price. Their basic shared hosting package comes with UNLIMITED hosting space, UNLIMITED bandwidth and UNLIMITED domain hosting for only $3.96 per month. Also, they have been in business since 2005 and have received company rating of A from Better Business Bureau.

You can also get EXTRA 6 months FREE if you choose to sign up for 3 years and it comes with FREE Domain for life and FREE privacy protect for domains. You also get $50 Miva Ad credit, $25 Yahoo Ad credit and $30 Google Ad credit. If used properly, one can use the ad credit to make up for the money they used to pay for web hosting. For example, you can use the ad credit to advertise for your products or simply advertise for your content based sites. We recommend extensive research before you decide to spend your ad credit because it can disappear very quickly if done without proper planning.

Save EXTRA $25.00 by using the coupon "earningblog " or "savenow " when signing up with webhostingpad

So if we do the math -

$3.96 for 3 years + 6 months FREE => $142.56 - $25 (coupon) => $117.56 - $10.00 (FREE DOMAIN) => $107.56.

$107.56 / 42 months = $2.56 per month. Therefore, you are only paying $2.56 per month after the coupon, domain saving and extra free 6 months hosting. We didn't even add the Ad Credit that adds up to $105 in free Ad credit from Google, Miva and Yahoo.

If you are wondering how can a company offer UNLIMITED SPACE and BANDWIDTH, please read the following comment directly from the company sales representative -

"The reason we offer unlimited disk space and bandwidth is because we want you to focus on our features and support, not on how much disk space and bw you get. Most people don't realize how much disk space they actually need. We decided to offer unlimt. disk space and bw in order to remove those factors from your decision, because customer support and reliability make a good host, not a few extra gigs of space. We would never make a customer upgrade because they are using too much disk space or bandwidth. Generally when we contact customers for VPS upgrades it is because their sites are higher in CPU and memory usage, as some sites are just not suitable for a shared hosting environment. This would be true with almost host that runs shared hosting services -- if one site on a server is 'hogging' system resources, it affects performance for everyone else. This is basically the only situation in which we would request a customer to move to a VPS."

Overall, finding quality website hosting is possible but it requires proper planning. Keep in mind that most of the cheap offers require you to pay for 1 year or 2 years in advance. If you decide to pay month to month, you will end up paying more for the package.

Once you have everything setup, you will be faced with the hard part that involves design, marketing and management. For marketing and search engine optimization, we recommend reading the following resources - http://www.sparkhaven.net/Articles/Search-Engine-Optimization/

Just to share what I've been through
written by Kevin , August 05, 2008
Before I bought a hosting plan with Webhostingpad, I searched extensively for a good webhost. I've tried the various big names over the past 5 years, but I always seem to face recurring downtime and poor technical and customer support. Before joining, I asked my SEO friend's opinion about WHP. He said the price is hard to beat, considering all the features. He also had experience using them for 70 of his websites, and had very few major issues with them that could not be ironed out within a few hours at most. I bought their Power package 15 months ago: 1.7TB space; 17TB bandwidth; unlimited Db's, Ftp's, POP3's and subdomain, cPanel, etc. All for under $5/month. I had 2 minor problems with my site that were solved in less than 24 hours. The latency/lag-time is low, and my up/download speeds are satisfactory with no bandwidth issues. I had 3 downtimes which were quickly resolved in 1 -2 hours, and with none of my data lost. Right now I'm hosting 5 sites with them and I'm looking to add more!

thanks for the explanation

thanks for such a detail article on webhosting and especially the part about unlimited space and bandwidth. I can see most people getting confused over it and they just need to understand that as long they are not placing excessive load on the server, they should have no problem. In the end you are paying for shared hosting not dedicated hosting smilies/grin.gif

Good for Business Users
written by Ajay Narain , August 31, 2008
I have over one hundred emoloyees in my company and have relied on In-Motion Hosting for my email and hosting services. In my three years of experiencw with them, they are by far the best managed and operated hosting company I have used. Their support team is professional and efficient. In the few instances I have reason to call them (mainly to ask questions) I received prompt and accurate information. I am also extremely pleased with their accounting department, which provides me with email based invoices and receipts. Overall, it has been a pleasure to work with them and I highly recommend them.
