According to reports, search giant Google ( google.com) went down for 15 minutes this past Saturday between 6:45 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.
The incident reportedly brought down Google's entire range of services, including Google news, Gmail and Froogle. While the company reported 15 minutes of downtime, some users said that they could not access Google's services for up to 45 minutes. David Krane, spokesperson for Google, said in reports that the problem was not related to a security or hacking issue. Though he did not elaborate further on the issue, Krane explained that the problem had something to do with the Domain Name System. Krane confirmed that the problem was remedied and access worldwide restored. Google is the world's most widely used search engine, conducting a reported 200 million searches a day.
