Web hosting provider Hostway ( hostway.com) announced on Monday that it had acquired German hosting and colocation provider Server Service GmbH ( server-service.com). Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The acquisition will result in Hostway GmbH, in business since April of 2004, merging with Server Service, which has over 5,000 servers hosting more than 300,000 sites between its data centers in Hannover and Frankfurt, Germany. Hostway expects the merger of the two companies to result in additions to their hosting portfolios and the consolidation and strengthening of their market share. "In Server-Service, Hostway has found an attractive partner in the German ISP market," says Rob Lovell, director for Hostway UK. "In terms of its server housing and colocation facilities it fits our proposition very well. Hostway customers in Germany who are looking for value-for-money server colocation services now have two options to choose from, with various locations around the country." Plans are in place to expand Server Service's managed hosting and colocation operations in both locations. The company's management structure will remain unchanged. "The merger with Hostway makes it possible for us to offer our customers a one-stop-shop for hosting and connectivity services," says Cord Bansemer, director of Server-Service. "Our chief purpose, just like Hostway, is to be as uncompromisingly customer-focused as possible. The merger lets us not only exchange know-how, but also benefit from synergies created between departments inside both companies."
