Web hosting provider Hurricane Electric (he.net) announced on Monday it is planning to open a new colocation facility in Silicon Valley. The new 208,000 square foot facility will be the fourth colocation facility operated by Hurricane Electric, which also has centers in San Jose and Fremont, California, and New York City.
Hurricane Electric's new 208,000 square-foot building is located in Fremont, California, no more than two miles from its existing Fremont colocation facility. It will be equipped with full amenities, including a 24-hour onsite staff, high-tech security, digital video surveillance, HVAC environmental systems, conditioned uninterruptible power and back-up generators.
"We have experienced tremendous growth over the past few years that has necessitated the opening of another data center," says Mike Leber, president of Hurricane Electric. "With its size and proximity to so many major networks, the new Fremont facility will give us the room to grow in the long run and become a significant global epicenter of Internet traffic."
Hurricane Electric's new colocation facility is slated to be running in four months. New domestic and international clients will have the choice of colocating their equipment in the original San Jose facility, the existing Fremont facility, the New York City facility, or the new Fremont facilit
