Data centers and Internet exchange operator Equinix (equinix.com) announced on Wednesday that Indonesian telecommunications provider PT Indosat Tbk has deployed a network point of presence within Equinix's Singapore Internet Business Exchange center.

Through hosting at Equinix, Indosat plans to upgrade service to existing customers by streamlining operations and directly connecting with the aggregation of networks operating within Equinix's Internet hub.

Indosat chose to host its infrastructure at Equinix's Internet hub because the company to directly interconnect to multiple global network service providers, and the fact that it shares the same physical location as its key networking partners, enabling Indosat to streamline its network connectivity and reduce intermediate transit.

"We are continuously improving that service through carefully planned moves and strategic partnership," says Samsriyono Nugroho, general manager of carrier relations for Indosat. "Equinix fits into our business model with its industry leading data center infrastructure and unique network-neutral model."
