Web host Caird Corporation ( cairdcorp.com) said on Wednesday that it had acquired Interland's ( interland.com) shared Web hosting brand Hostcentric for $3.4 million. According to an SEC filing, the price is variable, depending on the success the parties have in migrating the accounts over to Caird’s hosting platform.
Interland has owned and operated Hostcentric since acquiring it in June 2003. The acquisition includes all shared hosting accounts Interland acquired from Hostcentric as well as all new customers signed up under the brand since the acquisition. For the quarter ending February 28, 2005, the accounts sold produced approximately $1.2 million in revenue, the SEC filing said. Substantially all of the Hostcentric accounts were serviced at Interland's Orlando, Florida data center facility. In the SEC filing, Interland says it plans to close the facility on or around July 1, 2005. Approximately 35 employees will be terminated in connection with the closure. Caird says it will maintain the Hostcentric brand and add new functionality, features, and a control panel when the Hostcentric accounts are migrated over to Caird's platform. Interland declined to immediately comment on the sale
