Internet content delivery network Limelight Networks ( limelight.com), and PC and console based game provider Shacknews ( shacknews.com) have signed an agreement to provide Fileshack content - new-release demos, game patches and mods, device drivers, and game tools - via Fileshack's Limelight-enhanced content delivery network.
The partnership will expand the reach and scale of Fileshack's services, adding nine new locations, including two in Europe. Fileshack will also triple its public capacity and quadruple its subscriber capacity, as well as upgrade 'shackspace' for subscribing members to 1GB.
Fileshack also provides game publishers and distributors with controlled distribution, offering services like advanced tracking of specific distributions and integrated communications with game users. Fileshack has a full suite of beta management tools for pre-release testing, including large-scale individualized beta cd-key distribution.
"Teamed with Limelight," says Steve Gibson, Fileshack founder and owner, "we can substantially increase our ability to serve our rapidly growing base by delivering millions of downloads to millions of registered users every month."
