Colocation provider TELEHOUSE America (telehouse.com) announced on Tuesday that content delivery network operator Limelight Networks (limelightnetworks.com) had become a new member of the NYIIX (nyiix.net) Internet exchange point.

TELEHOUSE, which operates peering exchanges in New York and Los Angeles, says Limelight is the first to activate NYIIX's new remote switch at the 111 8th Avenue location in New York. It also marks the first 10GigE interconnect to Limelight's content delivery network.

"Limelight Networks saw the key role NYIIX's seamless fabric could play in the media and entertainment content space," says Michael Vallone, head of marketing at TELEHOUSE. "Their quick action to utilize the advantages the NYIIX provides illustrates why they are the industry leaders. We look forward to working with them for many years to come."

TELEHOUSE says Limelight will now have the potential to peer with the hundreds of carriers through the NYIIX fabric connecting the 25 Broadway, 111 8th and 60 Hudson Street locations. The NYIIX is the only peering point to offer a 10GigE interface speed from all three locations, TELEHOUSE says.
