Nine Systems Teams with Pro Surfers PDF Print E-mail
Wednesday, 18 May 2005
Content delivery network operator Nine Systems (ninesystems.com) announced on Thursday that it has teamed up with the Association of Surfing Professionals World Tour Web site (aspworldtour.com) to stream surf events live in real time using its Network of Networks content delivery solution.

The ASP, which hosts internationally licensed events at the world's top surf breaks, is using Nine Systems' content delivery network and Stream OS suite of rich media management applications to stream live surfing footage. By streaming the surf events over the Internet, the sport's coverage is no longer limited to television network schedules or time zone constraints, ensuring uninterrupted access to reliable, high-quality delivery of competitions despite the location or time of day.

"Now surfing is an international draw with high-stakes competitions held around the world," says Brodie Carr, CEO of ASP International. "Times, dates and locations are arranged to ensure ultimate wave conditions, not convenient viewing times. Streaming content live directly from the events delivers the immediacy and excitement as it happens for surf fans worldwide."

The ASP's new initiative seeks to provide live event coverage from all around the globe. Started 28 years ago, it works to provide professional surfers with such benefits and rewards as organized competitions, sponsorship opportunities and equitable monetary compensations.
