Data center automation software developer Opsware ( opsware.com) announced on Monday that it had released a new version of the Opsware Server Automation System, code-named Darwin. The solution includes new compliance automation capabilities and Opsware ExpressAutomation, a feature set designed to streamline the automation of larger, heterogeneous IT environments.
Opsware's new compliance capabilities automate all aspects of server and application compliance. It combines policy compliance capabilities at all layers of the software stack, from operating systems to applications and configurations, with Opsware's contextual data model. The company says Darwin can automate heterogeneous environments with thousands of servers, producing automation efficiencies in less than five hours. "The Darwin product is a whole new breed of technology that radically evolves how IT manages large, distributed environments and provides a tremendous leap forward for companies embarking on IT automation and utility computing initiatives," says Dr. Tim Howes, CTO of Opsware. "With Darwin, IT can begin realizing massive automation benefits immediately and reach new levels of efficiencies across their global enterprise."
